Description:decreased hair follicle density with cutaneous fibrosis and atrophy
Comments:This 17 year old girl developed slowly progressive scarring hair loss. A biopsy from the original area on the occiput showed scarring with decreased hair follicle density. A second biopsy from a new area of involvement showed changes most consistent with lichen planus. The alopecia stopped progressing 3 months after she started treatment with plaquenil 200 mg twice a day.
