| Description: | Diagnosis: Neonatal Onset Multisystem Inflammatory Disease; also known as Chronic Neurologic Cutaneous and Articular Syndrome; The patient is a 6-year-old white male child with history of a persistent, progressive urticarial eruption from birth. The eruption is associated with periodic fevers, lymphadenopathy, arthritis, and painful edema of the hands and feet. Laboratories revealed elevated ESR, CRP, IgA, IgM and C3 with leukocytosis, neutrophilia, and a microcytic anemia. Skin biopsy revealed a superficial neutrophilic dermatosis with perivascular and interstitial polymorphous inflammatory inflitrate composed principally of neutrophils and rare eosinophils. | ||||
| Comments: | The 6-year-old boy had a persistent, progressive urticarial eruption from birth. Skin lesions were associated with periodic fevers, lymphadenopathy, arthritis, and painful edema of the hands and feet. Laboratory studies revealed an elevated erythrocyte sedimenation rate, C-reactive protein, IgA, IgM and C3 with leukocytosis, neutrophilia, and a microcytic anemia. Skin biopsy revealed a superficial neutrophilic dermatosis with a perivascular and interstitial polymorphous inflammatory inflitrate composed principally of neutrophils and rare eosinophils. | ||||
