| Description: | tightly pulled braids with pustules and hair thinning along the parts | ||||
| Comments: | This 2-year-old girl developed pustules along the parts created by braids in her scalp. Loosening of the braids and gentle shampooing usually relieves this superficial Staphylococcal folliculitis also known impetigo of Bockhart. Note the traction alopecia as well. These children may also be prone to tinea capitis which should be excluded when local measures fail to result in clearing. This case was prepared by Bradley Burns a third year medical student at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. | ||||
