| Description: | At higher power, the cyst lining is attenuated but clearly shows stratified squamous epithelium. There is a granular layer with keratohyaline granules, and well-formed keratin within the lumen. | ||||
| Comments: | This is a very typical example of an epidermoid cyst in this 79-year-old man. It is often presents on the face, neck or trunk. We use the term epidermoid cyst as it can be difficult to determine if the cyst arose from epidermal implantation or a dilated follicular infundibulum. | ||||

| Comments: | This 17-year-old woman complained of vulvar pruritus for 2 years at the onset of her puberty. She had irregular and ineffective treatment from Ayurvedic Practitioners. Multiple custs were noted, and her symptoms improved with topical compresses and oral antibiotics. The cysts were subsequently successfully electrocauterized. On examination there were multiple cysts on the labia majora on each side and there were few showing signs of inflammation. She was advised a course of antibiotics and warm condy's sitz bath for a week and when the returned the lesions were treated by electrocautery. She was advised regular follow up. | ||||
