Comments: This healthy pre-schooler developed an expanding pink plaque on his nose 3 months ago. The lesion improved somewhat with topical emollients, antifungal, and steroid cream but recurred when the topical agents were discontinued. Although a potassium hydroxide preparation was negative, he was given oral griseofulvin for 2 weeks, and the eruption cleared.

Comments: A 35 year-old hotel cook with long standing tinea infection of the groin was evaluated for an itchy red plaque on the left cheek and pinna for 3 weeks. A potassium hydroxide preparation demonstrated hyphae typical of tinea corporis.

Comments: A 30-year-old woman developed progressive pruritic burning plaques over the chin, the submental and right submandibular areas. The lesions cleared with 2 weeks of treatment with oral itraconazole 100mg daily and topical miconazole cream.
