Comments: This healthy toddler developed a photodistributed necrotic crusted vesicular eruption on her face, ears, and the tops of her hands while on a trip to Florida in the early spring. A skin biopsy showed an intraepidermal vesicle with a mononuclear cell dermal infiltrate.

Description: multiple symmetric crusted 3-4 mm vaccination-like vesicles and scars
Comments: This 10-year-old boy was evaluated for a 2 year history of recurrent uniform round 3-4 mm blisters healing with depressed vaccination-like scars on sun exposed areas. The eruption worsened in the summer.. Hidroa vacciniforme is a vesiculobullous eruption that appears on sun-exposed skin during childhood tends to recur in the summer. The lesions are surrounded by an erythematous zone and resemble a smallpox vaccination. Punched out chicken pox or vaccination like scars are characteristic.This rare chronic photodermatosis resolves spontaneously in early adulthood, and is not usually associated with systemic disease.
