| Description: | hear thinning and breakage with patch of well defined alopecia | ||||
| Comments: | An 8 year old boy had a large area of hair thinning for over 6 months involving much of the left side of his scalp. When he developed a well defined area of hair loss behind his ear his mother brought him for consultation. Potassium hydroxide examinations of scale from the large subtle patch and the smaller area of almost complete hair loss both showed spores in hair fragments, and a culture grew Trichophyton tonsurans. He cleared after 2 months of oral griseofulvin therapy. | ||||
