| Diagnosis: | MULTIPLE LENTIGINES SYNDROME / LENTIGO / NEVUS, PIGMENTED, JUNCTIONAL | Category: | genodermatosis/genetic disorder / hyperpigmentation / congenital malformation | ||
| Body Site: | total body / face neck | Age: | 10 years | ||
| Contributor: | Bernard Cohen, MD | ||||
| Description: | multiple disseminated 1-3 mm dark brown macules and papules | ||||
| Comments: | At birth this 10-year-old boy was noted to have generalized brown macules associated with complex congenital malformations including anomalie of the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system. The pigmented lesions gradually increased in number and many developed an elevated center. A biopsy of a macule showed a lentigo, while a papule showed the features of a junctional nevus. Although he did not satisfy criteria for diagnosis of multiple lentigines syndrome, the cutaneous lesions are undoubtedly a marker for a congenital malformation syndrome. | ||||
