Description: generalized red papules and pustules many of which are elongated with overlying linear scale
Comments: This 5-month-old was covered with scaly papules and pustules with most prominent involvement of the feet. Her mother had similar lesions with generalized excoriations. Note that many of the papules and pustules are elongated typical of burrows. This case was prepared by University of Mississippi year 4 medical student Yakeyla Nave.

Description: generalized symmetric crusted papules and pustules with most severe involvement of the web spaces
Comments: This 6-year-old girl complained of a painful itchy skin rash for 2 months. Her siblings developed a similar eruption. The primary lesions were typical of scabies with burrows in the web spaces. Secondary infection probably with Staphylococcus aureus resulted in secondary infection and the crusts and pustules. She was a resident of an internally displaced persons camp in Darfur.

Description: At low power, there is regular epidermal hyperplasia with a mite in the stratum corneum. There is edema and a mixed inflammatory infiltrate within the papillary dermis. The infiltrate contains eosinophils.

Description: linear red scaly cruste papules
Comments: This 7-year-old boy complained of itching worse at night for 20 days. His siblings had similar symptoms. He had widespread excoriations, crusted papules and few vesicles on fingerwebs, volar aspect of wrists, elbows, abdomen, thighs and genital area including the glans and scrotum. He was treated with a topical application of permethrin and oral antihistamines.
