Description: symmetric eczematous patches with well demarcated erythema, scaling,and crusting
Comments: This healthy 11-year-old girl had a history of chronic persistent itchy dermatitis on the upper posterior thighs for 3 years. The symptoms and eruption cleared during the summer and recurrent each September. Although she tested positive for nickel allergy on a patch test, she always wore pants to school, and her legs had no direct contact with the metal legs on her chair in the classroom. Careful detective work suggested a probably toilet seat contact dermatitis, and she is now using a portable toilet seat cover.

Comments: This healthy 8-year-old girl developed an acute allergic contact dermatitis following the application of neomycin to prevent infection after excision of a congenital pigmented nevus. The eruption settled down quickly with discontinuation of the topical antibiotic and application of a topical steroid cream. This image was obtained before the sutures were removed.

Comments: This healthy adolescent boy developed an itchy eczematous eruption on his arms followed by a generalized red papular "id" reaction or autoeczematization. Although the cause of the primary contact was not clear, he was known to be allergic to poison ivy, and he spent the weekend in the woods before developing the eczematous lesions on his arms. He responded quickly to tapering 2 week course of oral steroids.
