Description: A nevomelanocytic lesion is present within the dermis. There is a component of normal pink, nested nevus cells. A significant portion of the lesion consists of enlarged cells with clear cytoplasm and crenated nuclei. Neither cytologic atypia nor mitoses are identified.
Comments: This young female presented with a clinical halo nevus. Balloon cell nevi, rarely, may show the clinical halo phenomenon. This appears without or may precede the histologic finding of brisk inflammation.
