Description: diffuse papules, pustules, and closed comedones
Comments: A healthy 48-year-old woman developed a facial eruption 7 weeks ago which was treated with a low potency topical steroid without improvement. She had a good response to a mid potency topical steroid, but the eruption rebounded when the medication was discontinued. Over the last 2 weeks she had improved with oral doxycycline. A skin punch biopsy showed sarcoidal granulomas typical of granulomatous rosacea or perioral dermatitis.

Comments: This 6-year-old girl developed an asymptomatic confluent red papular and scaly eruption around her mouth with lesions spreading to her cheeks and around her eyes. She was also a lip licker with a contact dermatitis on her vermillion border and at the corners of her mouth.

Description: red papules and patches with scale and pustules on a red base
Comments: This healthy 37-year-old woman developed symmetric red papules and pustules on a red base on her chjin, nose and upper lip following the longterm use of a topical steroid. The eruption flared after she discontinued the topical steroid and cleared again with an oral antibiotic.

Description: symmetric and in some areas confluent red papules with overlying scale
Comments: A 9-year-old girl developed asymptomatic red and confluent papules on the cheek, chin, and nose 4-6 weeks earlier. She was treated with topical steroids with only temporary success. A 6 week course of oral erythromycin result in complete and longterm clearing of the eruption.
