A double fluorescent antibody study was positive for Varicella-Zoster Virus. She was treated with parenteral acyclovir and switched to oral valacyclovir. An eye examination was normal. She had received varicella vaccine when she was 15 months old.

He was a known Human Immunodeficiency virus patient and started on antiretroviral therapy and valacyclovir for HIV and shingles, respectively.

She was treated with oral acyclovir and topical compresses and calamine lotion. The pain resolved in 48 hours and the vesicles dried a week later. Note the progression and healing of the eruption.
