Comments

This 54-year-old man developed a rapidly growing 5x5 cm plaque on his scrotum. The clinician submitted the lesion as condyloma acuminatum vs. giant condyloma acuminatum of Buschke-Lowenstein, which is essentially a verrucous carcinoma. HPV 6 and 11 are the most common viral types and can be identified with immunohistochemical stains, as in this case.

Description

Immunohistochemical staining for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), types 6 and 11, was performed. There is strong nuclear staining and a cytoplasmic blush in many of the superficial keratinocytes, confirming the presence of this virus.
