Camel spiders are also known as wind spiders or sun spiders. They prefer warm arid climates and hunt for prey during the night avoiding the sun by day. These nonvenomous spiders only bite humans when disturbed, and the painful bites should be treated symptomatically. Black widow spiders are also nocturnal, and most human bites occur when the spider is accidentally disturbed. Although the bite may be painful, it may be painless. The venom of the black widow spider usually has little or no effect on humans but severe systemic reaction may occur especially in small children. Both of these spiders were discovered in a garage in Southern Califormia during spring cleaning.
