These findings are typical of an acantholytic squamous cell carcinoma with focal basaloid features.This biopsy was taken from an 11 mm nodule on the right forearm of an 85-year-old man.

Description

Nests of squamous epithelial cells with abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm and large nuclei are seen extending into the dermis. There is central keratinization and horn pearl formation. Cells at the periphery of the tumor nests are still cohesive. Small basaloid cells are also seen.
