Comments

This 4 year old girl with mild atopic dermatitis developed a high fever and a blistering rash on her extremities and face. She was initially misdiagnosed with smallpox, but the typical herpetiform vesicles, a history of exposure to an adult with recurrent herpes labialis, and a history or eczema helped to make the proper diagnosis. She improved quickly on oral acyclovir.
