These head scan findings were associated with rhythmic seizures and an electroencepahlogram that showed diffuse cortical dysfunction and multifocal cortical hyperirritability. His progressive downhill course was associated with development of disseminated intravascular coagulation and multiple organ dysfunction.

Description

On the fifth day of life a grade IV intraventricular hemorrhage was noted on computed tomographic examination of the brain with extensive right temporal and basal ganglionic hemantomas as well. There was subfalcine and uncal herniation and a right to left midline shift.
