Comments

This middle-age woman developed an acute eruption following sun exposure. The histologic findings here are classic. This level of papillary dermal edema significantly limits the differential diagnosis. With a strictly lymphocytic infiltrate, polymorphous light eruption is most likely.

Description

The striking feature is the marked papillary dermal edema. There is overlying epidermal acanthosis with serum and scale crust. Wiithin the dermis, there is a vaguely wedge-shaped inflammatory infiltrate, extending to the mid reticular dermis.
