This healthy 4-year-old boy with mild atopic dermatitis developed fever, adenopathy, and itchy vesicles and crusts clustered on the flexures of his legs. A culture grew Herpes simplex virus, and he improved with compresses, emollients, and parenteral antiviral therapy.
