This healthy 12-month-old girl had a subtle red patch on her frontal scalp at birth. It grew quickly for 3 months and then gradually softened and developed gray patches. The lesion was hairless at birth but recently vellus hairs appeared. There was no history of crusting, ulceration, or scarring.
