This 46-year-old man was evaluated for asymptomatic patches on the trunk that developed after he moved to the United States 10 years ago. He had a one year history of type 2 diabetes that was well controlled with an oral hypoglycemic. The histologic changes are typical of pityriasis rotunda and ichthyosis vulgaris.

Description

There is marked compact hyperkeratosis, diminished granular cell layer and mild acanthosis.
