This 10-year-old boy developed a high fever, diffuse cutaneous edema, and widespread erythema and erosions of the skin and mucous membranes 3 weeks after starting pehnytoin for seizures. He progressed with development of airway involvement necessitating intubation. He died of complications a few days later.
