This healthy 35-year-old man complained of an intensely itchy red plaque of the upper part of the left shoulder for 6 weeks. A potassium hydroxide preparation revealed hyphae typical of tinea corporis. He was treated with oral terbinafine 250 mg daily at bed time and unguentum whitfield and tar topically for 3 weeks and completely recovered
