Special stains and cultures for acid fast bacteria, Pneumocystis carinii, Cytomegalovirus, bacteria, and fungi were negative. The histologic findings were read as eosinophilic lung disease consistent with Churg-Strauss syndrome.

Description

Transtrachial lung biopsy shows alveolar macrophages and mixed inflammatory cells with numerous eosinophils.
