Comments

At 8 days of age this 11-day-old girl developed fever, lethargy, and poor feeding. A sepsis work-up was negative and she was started on parenteral antibiotics pending the outcome of cultures. At 10 days of age she developed elevated transaminases, and acyclovir was added to her regimen. On day 11 the vesicles were noted on her right chest and left axilla. Viral culture of vesicle fluid grew Herpes simplex virus. On day 13 she was more alert and feeding well.
