This 67 year old man, whose pemphigus was under control following parenteral pulse steriod treatment and 2 years of oral steroid maintenance, developed a a fungating growth on his right shin following a minor injury to his leg while walking in a wooded area near his home. Culture of tissue obtained from a skin biopsy revealed chromoblastomycosis (probably Phialphora species). He was treated with itraconazole 100 mg twice daily for 3 months.
