These changes are typical of dermatofibromasarcoma protuberans.

Description

30yo male presented with left infraclavicular swelling of 3months duration. He had similar swelling at the same site and underwent surgery one year back. Local examination revelaed firm globular swelling in the left infraclavicular region measuring 4.0cms across. Skin over the swelling is not pinchable. Surrounding skin shows old operative scar with pigmentation. In addition there are a few small satellite nodules. Histological examination revealed hapazardly arranged spindle cells having moderate anisokaryosis and vesicular nuclei. Tumor cells seen infiltrating subcutaneous adipose tissue and entraping nerve bundles. Mitotic count: 12/10hpf. There are no areas of necrosis. Histological features are consistent with Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberance.
