Comments

This active vigorous healthy 4 month old, who was delivered at 32 weeks gestational age, was noted to have widespread erosions and vesicles at birth. The congenital skin lesions healed with supple reticulated scarring. Otherwise she had an uneventful nursery course, and she is now thriving and developing normally. Her clinical findings and course are typical of congenital erosive and vesicular dermatosis healing with supple and reticulated scarring. Although some of the affected children have had central nervous system anomalies and neurodevelopmental delay, the majority of children have grown and developed normally. Nearly a third have been delivered prematurely, and not only skin but also nails, scalp, and mucous membranes can be involved. If you think that you have examined other children with this condition who have not been previously reported, please contact the editors of dermatlas.com.
