Comments

A 3-year-old boy rwas evaluated for acquired torticollis and a diffuse swelling of the third right toe. Stiffness and limitation of motion but no tenderness of the cervical spine had been noted approximately 6 months ago. A fusiform, painless swelling was also noted on the left third toe. Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) of the cervical spine indicated no abnormal findings, while an MRI of the foot was indicative of fibromatosis. A biopsy was performed from the toe that showed mild synovitis of the tendons. Knee joint involvement followed 6 months later. Medical treatment for rheumatoid arthritis was then started and the toe swelling rapidly subsided.
