6 months

light

Morphology

Comments

This 6-month-old boy had an asymptomatic yellowish-orange 8 mm round nodule on the right upper back. He was well with normal growth and development. Note the café au lait spot on the lower back. Occasionally xanthogranulomas may be associated with increased numbers of café au lait spots and rarely chronic myelogenous leukemia. Other rare associations have been reported. Infants probably deserve an eye examination to exclude xanthogranulomas that may involve the irides or other ocular structures.
