Comments

This 25-year-old woman was born with a purple patch on her vulvae. Over many years the lesions became apparent on her left hip, genital area, leg, ankle and foot. New lesions continue to erupt on the left side of her back. Her left leg was 3 inches shorter than her right, and her left foot was 4 shoe sizes smaller than the right, although the affected foot swells dramatically episodically. When she was 5 years old she began to have problems with her knee and ankle joints, and at age 12 she had surgery on her knee with partial reconstruction of the joint and placement of a metal plate. She has experienced 3 fractures or her left femur and simultaneous fractures of her femur and tibia, and an above the knee amputation was being considered. She delivered 3 healthy chidren by cesarian section none of whom were noted to have vascular malformations.
