Comments

This 21-year-old Marine was evaluated during his second deployment for a non-healing ulcer for 4 weeks. He was in an area with high concentration of sand flies 9 months prior to presentation. The eruption started as a blister but quickly developed into an itchy ulcer with the satellite lesions. The lesion was slightly indurated at the borders with surrounding erythema and edema. Biopsy confirmed Leishmaniasis, and the ulcer healed with supportive measures (for itching) in 5 months.
