Comments

This 28-year-old man complained of an extremely itchy eruption on his chest and back. He was initially misdiagnosed with acne vulgaris but,failed to improve with acne treatment. He responded well to topical ketoconazole shampoo and oral ketoconazole. Pityrosporum folliculitis is caused by Malassezia furfur. Lesions are chronic, erythematous, pruritic papules and pustules, which occur in a follicular pattern on the back and chest and, occasionally, on the neck, shoulder, upper arm, and face.
