Comments

A 60-year-old man developed multiple thick scaly plaques with some crusting scattered over his body. Although the cause of acute onset of psoriasis was unclear, it may have been triggered by initiation of a new antihypertensive medication.

Description

The skin biopsy demonstrated epidermal hyperplasia in a psoriasiform pattern. Within the papillary dermis, there was a moderately intense perivascular and interstitial infiltrate comprised of lymphocytes with numerous eosinophils. Overlying parakeratotic scales and neutrophils in Munro microabscesses were also present. PAS staining for fungal organisms was negative.
