This 10-year-old boy developed an intensely pruritic eruption comprised of widely disseminated linear red papules, pustules, excoriations and crusts. The rest of the family was also itching and had similar lesions. The boy was treated with oral cephalexin 250 mg tid, hydroxyzine 10mg qhs and a single application of 5 percent permethrin. The other family members were also treated for scabies.
