This 70-year-old woman developed a slowly expanding red annular plaque with mild pruritus on her chin, submental region, and upper neck two weeks earlier. Superficial scaling was present on the active border. Scapings prepared witjh potassium hydroxide from the lesion revealed fungal hyphae under direct microscopy.
