Comments

This healthy 7-year-old girl was evaluated for petechiae and larger hemorrhagic macules and vesicles in areas of normal trauma. The most prominent lesions were on her lips and tongue, but a few petechiae were noted on her elbows. Her platelet count was less than 5,000, and after a short bout of acute renal failure, she responded quickly to intravenous immunogloubulin.
