This 3 day old infant was noted to have symmetric well defined erosions over both shins, ankles, and feet at birth. Within one month the lesions healed with atrophic scars, and no new vesicles or erosions have appeared. His growth and development have been normal, and the family history is negative for blisteing disorders, birthmarks, congenital scars, poor dentitiion, oral blistering, nail dystrophy, and fragile skin. A skin biopsy showed a subepidermal blister and electronmicroscopy demonstrated the basement membrane with the basal lamina at the roof of the blister.
