An 18 year old man developed an expanding annualar scaly plaque of the right hand and dystrophy of the ring finger nail. On the palm the plaque was less demarcated. A clinical diagnosis of tinea manuum was confirmed with a fungal culture which grew Trichophyton mentagrophytes.
