A 59-year-old diabetic man was evaluated for a chronic hyperpigmented depressed eruption on his shins . Although this dermatosis is not specific of diabetes, it is probably the most common finding in the skin of diabetics. These pigmented pretibial patches may be a marker for underlying cutaneous microangiopathy and similar lesions in the vessels of other tissues and organs..
