Comments

This 24 year old woman with a history of recurrent sexually transmitted diseases developed a fever, several painful joints, and 3 exquisitely tender pustules on a violaceous base on her right palm, the side of a finger on each hand, and her left ankle. A biopsy of the ankle pustule demonstrated a leukocytoclastic vasculitis, but no organisms were seen. A culture from her cervix grew Neisseria gonorrhoeae. The small number of tneder necrotic pustules on the distal extremities is typical of disseminated gonococcal infection.
