This healthy 11-month-old boy developed an itchy expanding annualr plaque with fine scale on the left buttock. A potassium hydroxide preparation showed branching hyphae, and fungal culture grew Trichophyton rubrum. The same organism grew from tinea pedis on his father's feet. The eruption cleared with oral griseofulvin.
