Comments

This 45-year-old man developed a widespread vesiculobullous eruption with central crusting. He was initially misdiagnosed with a contact dermatitis and treated with oral prednisone. When the eruption worsened, he was reevaluated and a diagnosis of Varicella-Zoster virus was made and confirmed with polymerase chain reaction. The corticosteroids were switched to oral valacyclovir, and he had an uneventful recovery.
