Comments

This 9-year-old boy developed his first blisters around bony prominences and other areas of trauma within the first few days of life. He never had mucous membrane lesions, and most of the bullae healed with atrophy and scars. The family history was negative for blistering dermatoses, and a skin biopsy with imunofluorescent mapping showed an intraepidermal blister most consistent with a dermolytic variant of epidermolysis bullosa. Although he manages his blisters well with topical antibiotics and protective measures, he complains that the lesions on his ankles interfere with daily schooll activities and sports.
