Comments

At birth this 2 week old boy was noted to have 2 rubbery intraoral masses with 1 arising from the maxillary gingiva near the midline and the second from the right side of the mandible. Congenital epulis is a rare benign tumor of the newborn occurring most commonly on the gum line in the region of the incisors of the upper jaw. The oval to spherical tumor is attached to the gum by a narrow stalk or broad pedicle. Although these lesions do not grow after birth and usually regress spontaneously, excision is warranted particularly when they interfere with feeding or breathing.
