A healthy 3 week old was referred for evaluation of a firm plaque on the left lower abdomen. Pathology demonstrated typical changes of subcutaneous fat necrosis of the newborn. She dontinued to grow and develop normally while the plaque resolved over the subsequent 4 months. Serum calcium levels were also normal during this period.
