A 16-year-old boy complained of increasing asymptomatic yellowing papules on his upper lip. They responded well to superficial carbon dioxide laser ablation. These ectopic sebaceous glands are present at birth but become apparent during the second and third decades. They are also commonly found on the buccal mucosa.
