This toddler developed an asymptomatic rash a week after an episode of fever and diarrhea. He was otherwise well without lymphadenopathy or organomegaly. This viral exanthem has been associated with a number of enteroviruses and respiratory viruses in the US. Occasionally in the US but more commonly in Europe and Asia this pattern has been associated with asymptomatic Hepatitis B virus infection. Gianotti-Crosti syndrome caused by HBV is defined by the presence of a papular acrodermatitis exanthem, generalized adenopathy, and hepatomegaly without jaundice.
