Comments

This 58-year-old woman complained of a chronic erosive irritated intertriginous eruption for years. The histologic findings were typical of Hailey-Hailey disease or benign familial pemphigus.

Description

A skin biopsy from the axilla showed suprabasilar clefting of the epidermis. There was full thickness acantholysis with some dyskeratosis near the granular layer. Within the papillary dermis there was a sparse perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate with scattered eosinophils. Direct immunoflourescence was negative.
